About the Event
This is a full day workshop designed for absolute beginnerswhere you will learn how to make your own silver clay drop replica acorn and or leaf earrings or pendant using fine silver and 24K gold highlights. You will be taught about using silver clay and electroplating 24K gold. No previous experience is required in metal clay or jewellery.
During your class you will learn how to handle the clay, how to texture, cut and shape it, how to store your clay and rehydrate it, how to refine your pieces and fire them, finishing with how to polish your fired pieces.
The class runs from 10.00am-4.30pmÂ
Silver clay will be supplied to produce at least 2 small pieces of jewellery, depending on the size you make, including silver clay and a jump ring. If you require extra clay or a chain, you can buy them on the day. Â You are welcome to bring your own and fit them to your pieces to complete them.
This is a smallclass held in Rebecca Oxenham's jewellery making studio with a maximum of 4 to allow for lots of individual attention and sharing of electroplating plating tools.Â

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR - REBECCA OXENHAM Â Â Â Â
Rebecca works out of her studio at the end of her garden in Hampshire, England. The jewellery created is inspired by her passion for nature and she is committed to supporting biodiversity and protecting the environment. She uses recycled materials such as silver clay which is an 100% recycled product made from recycled silver which is ground up to a fine powder and mixed with a binder. When fired it becomes solid fine silver. Using recycled silver helps to limit the use of child labour in mines as well as the amount of metals that must be produced. This leads to less waste in landfills and helps to slow the consumption and deterioration of natural resources.Â
Â
Rebecca studied at the Cornwall School for Art Craft and Jewellery for her Level One, Art Clay Diploma Certification in Silver Clay. This is a world-wide, recognised qualification, administered by the official distributors of Art Clay in Europe. She is also a member of AMCAW (Association of Metal Clay Artists Worldwide) and GOJD (Guild of Jewellery Designers). Â Â Â Â
