Private workshop for TWO - Silver stacking rings

This workshop is just for the two of you so you will get lots of help and attention. In this workshop you can make your own set of sterling silver stacking rings.  Choose from bobble wire or plain wire and perhaps add a hammered finish.  There are so many variations that everyone can make their own unique set of rings. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners to silversmithing and it teaches many of the basic skills needed for more advanced jewellery making.

Silver is not included in this workshop.  It costs approx £10 per ring.

I also have a full day workshop that includes stacking rings with making silver clay embelishments if you want to make your rings a little more fancy.

What your will learn;

- All about the silversmithing tools for making simple band rings

- How to measure your rings

- How to cut your silver wire

- How to forge your silver wire around a triblet

- Soldering the join

- Hammering techniques

- Sanding and filing

- Polishing and finishing

What is included;

- A choice of recycled sterling silver wire in round 1.5mm, 2mm or beaded wire 1.5mm and 2mm

- All equipment needed in my studio to make your jewellery pieces

- A detailed instruction booklet with sizing chart (which you can take home)

- As much tea, coffee and biscuits as you can eat and drink

- A glass of prosecco at the end to toast the day

What you need to bring;

- card or cash to pay for your silver - approx £10 per ring

- An apron if you have one

- Closed toe shoes

- Hairband (to tie hair back while firing)

- Glasses if you wear them - there is a lot of detailed work.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

The course is held at Rebecca's Garden Studio in Bitterne Park, Southampton. The workshop is held in the studio at the end of my garden on Oaktree Road, Southampton. Please knock on the front door on arrival and I will take you through to the studio. If you are late I will leave the side gate open so you can walk down and join us then.

DRIVING

Use SO18 1PH in your satnav or if using google maps just type in Rebecca Oxenham Jewellery. There is parking on Oaktree Road (if it gets busy there is also a car park close by on Manor Farm Road, near the junction of Dimond Road and next to Riverside Park).

TRAIN

Nearest train stations are Swathling, Bitterne, Southampton Parkway and Southampton Central. (If you are coming by train I can sometimes arrange pick up and drop off depending on availability - contact me in advance).

BUS

City Bus no 7 stops on the road a few yards from the venue and runs from the centre of Southampton.

Full joining instructions will be sent in advance of the course.

Cancellations of workshop places and private tuition bookings within 14 days of the event will forfeit the workshop/private tuition fee unless I am able to find someone to take your place. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
